The romanian version of “Upgrade” offers candidates a chance to replace old home appliances by answering a few questions. The catch is, that you lose the old ones if the answers are wrong. The setting is the home of the candidates.

On july 2nd, Renault celebrated 10 years since it took over Dacia. Sendal had to create an animated presentation of the 10 year history of the group. The film has been presented for the first time to a high profile audience on two giant 25 meters wide screens.

De 1 Mai Muncitoresc, în anul împlinirii a 4 cincinale de la sfârșitul Epocii de Aur, postul capitalist Realitatea TV anunță cu mândrie revoluționară lansarea unei campanii de propagandă cu amintiri din viața de zi cu zi în Epoca de Aur, campanie intitulată sugestiv: “Comunism pe burta goală”. Până la finele anului, în fiecare lună, foști pionieri și șoimi ai patriei, comuniști și dușmani ai poporului, muncitori și tehnicieni ai construcției socialismului multilateral dezvoltat își vor aminti de viața în comunism.

Așa cum stă bine unei campanii tovărășești de propagandă, fiecărei luni a anului îi va fi dedicată o temă de interes cetățenesc. Astfel, prima luna, MAI, este dedicată muncii în comunism. IUNIE vorbește despre foamea în comunism, IULIE aduce vacanța în comunism, AUGUST – propaganda și cenzura, SEPTEMBRIE – copilăria în comunism, OCTOMBRIE – tinerețea, NOIEMBRIE – frigul în comunism, iar ultima lună, DECEMBRIE, frica în comunism. Totul sub egida “Comunism pe burta goală”. În fiecare zi, programul postului capitalist Realitatea TV va fi înțesat de mărturii despre viața de zi cu zi în societatea comunistă, iar la finalul fiecărei luni se va organiza o emisiune specială, realizată într-un decor specific epocii.

I was testing the 5D mk2 with Tilt-Shift lenses and had no intention of editing or making a movie out of this, but i couldn’t help it… enjoy! Filmed on location, in Lipscani / Old City Centre Bucharest, May 2009. Special Thank you to the guys at “foto hobby shop” for allowing me to play with their lenses.

The TV Commercial, part of the “Fabrikultura” Campaign was aired europe-wide, helping shape an original identity for a city loaded with tradition and history. Despite controversy, the people embraced the symbols and it became one of Romania’s few branding success stories. Agency: GAV | Scholz & Friends.

Istoria orasului in 30 de secunde

In conditiile in care tot romanul se afla in cautare de identitate, cand in ultima vreme incearca zadarnic sa gaseasca ceva care sa-l arate mai bun decat restul lumii, publicitatea vine si le arata sibienilor cine sunt, iar ei reusesc sa se recunoasca, in niste ipostaze surprinzatoare, precum in spotul Fabrikultura, cu tineri rebeli, foarte expresivi insa, care colinda prin subteranele orasului.

Ei sunt insa tatuati cu imagini simbol ale culturii universale, Gioconda sau Omul Vitruvian, realizate perfect, fara absolut nimic din vulgaritatea tatuajelor. In subteran intalnim o incarcatura simbolica imensa, dar mesajele sunt foarte usor de decriptat: personajul calatoreste in istorie, trecand pe langa o coloana romana, un concert rock, intra intr-un atelier medieval de fierarie. Mai sunt pasari prevestitoare, cand albe, cand negre, un intrerupator din clape de pian, un telefon cu microfon in loc de receptor, absolut totul are multiple intelesuri, da frau liber imaginatiei, surprinzand toate fetele orasului si toata istoria.

Poti sa recunosti Sibiul in toate acestea, cu ceea ce inseamna traditie, cu meseriasii sasi, originile romane, efervescenta culturala cu teatrul si concertele de jazz sau rock, cultura samizdat care a supravietuit cu ajutorul nonconformistilor, simbolizati acum de tineri. Pe vremea comunismului, Paltinisul, care se afla langa Sibiu, era un fel de loc de pelerinaj al elitelor culturale, datorita filosofului Constantin Noica. Concertele si teatrul, festivalurile din oras sunt si ele capabile sa creeze o asemenea emulatie.

Conservator ziua, rebel noaptea
Toata campania este bazata pe contradictii aparente, menite sa socheze, sa arate lumii ca este ceva interesant acolo, mai mult decat cladiri si muzee, care merita cunoscut si aprofundat. Iar aceste lucruri ciudate isi gasesc explicatia prin faptul ca Sibiul devine capitala culturala in 2007, iar cultura este cea care aduce normalitate.

Si chiar asa este Sibiul – un oras contradictoriu, foarte conservator ziua, foarte rebel noaptea. Curand insa, personajele din subteran vor iesi la lumina.
